Quran Unlock ("the app", "we", "us") is built privacy-first. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. The short version: your data stays on your device.
1. Summary
- No account. You don't sign up or log in.
- No tracking. We don't use advertising or analytics SDKs that profile you.
- No servers of ours. Your reading progress, goals, streaks, blocked-app list, prayer settings, and Azkar progress are stored only on your device.
- You're in control. "Reset" in Settings erases your data; uninstalling the app removes everything.
2. Information stored on your device
The following is saved locally (via the operating system's standard preferences/storage) and is not transmitted to us:
- Your daily goal (pages or minutes) and reading sessions/history.
- Streaks, longest streak, and achievement badges.
- The list of apps you chose to block and enforcement settings.
- Reading preferences (Arabic font size, translation on/off, last-read position).
- Prayer settings (calculation method, Asr method) and your chosen prayer/adhan/lock preferences.
- Reminder times and Ramadan-mode setting.
- Which recitations you've downloaded for offline playback.
3. Location
If you enable prayer times, the app may request access to your device location to calculate accurate prayer times on your device. Your location is used only for that calculation and is not collected, stored on our servers, or shared with anyone. You can decline this permission and set your location manually, or skip prayer times entirely. A best-effort reverse-geocode may be performed to label your city; this uses the platform's geocoding service.
4. App-blocking permissions
To block distracting apps until your reading goal is met, the app uses platform features:
- iOS: Apple's Screen Time / Family Controls API (FamilyActivityPicker and ManagedSettings). The selection of apps you block is managed by the operating system and is not visible or sent to us.
- Android: Usage Access and "Display over other apps" permissions, plus a foreground service that detects the active app to show a lock screen. This runs entirely on your device; no usage data is collected or transmitted.
These permissions are used solely to help you limit your own use of apps you choose. We do not read, log, or upload your app usage.
5. Notifications
With your permission, the app schedules local notifications for reading reminders and adhan/prayer-time alerts. These are generated on your device; no notification content is sent through our servers.
6. Recitation audio
If you play or download recitation audio, the audio files are fetched from a content source for playback and may be cached on your device for offline use. These are read-only media requests and do not include personal information about you.
7. Purchases
Quran Unlock offers an optional "Pro" subscription and lifetime purchase. Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play under their own terms and privacy policies. If a subscription-management provider (e.g. RevenueCat) is used, it processes an anonymous purchase/device identifier solely to validate your purchase status. We never receive your name, email, or payment details through this process.
8. Children's privacy
The app is rated for general audiences and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
9. Data we do NOT collectWe do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise advertising identifiers, or behavioral profiles. We do not sell or share personal data because we do not collect it.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and post the revised version at the URL where this policy is hosted.
